On October 22, 2026, from 5-7:30pm, Flying Cloud Institute along with the Berkshire STEM Pipeline and the Berkshire Museum, will be hosting a night of hands-on science and arts exploration for students in grades K-8! This is part of Massachusetts' annual STEM Week and will be located at the newly-renovated Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield. We'd love to have you join us!

Flying Cloud will be at the Lee Founders Day on Saturday, September 19th, 11am-2pm, to run a hands-on science and art activity for kids that sparks curiosity and gives children a chance to explore! Join us for this free event!

What began as a single summer camp on Jane and Larry Burke's farm in New Marlborough has grown to reach more than 2,000 children annually across Berkshire County. Join Flying Cloud Education Coordinator, bird enthusiast, and Camouflage Egg Hunt creator Christian Drake for an interactive science/art lesson and make your own camouflage eggs with the family at 10 am, March 28th in the Summer Room at April Hill. Christian will show you how to use food-derived dyes to mimic natural colors and patterns on eggs, and introduce you to the wider world of animal camouflage at large. Three eggs will be provided for each participant, but feel free to bring extra from home! You may donate completed eggs to the Egg Hunt if you wish; the Egg Hunt officially begins at 12 pm. Participants must register in advance; spots are limited. Event tickets are $10 for all ages. Children must be accompanied by adults.

Bundle up and join us for an inspiring afternoon of local stories, big impact, and community connection! On Wednesday, February 18 from 3–5 PM, the Nonprofit Center of the Berkshires invites you to the Berkshire Athenaeum auditorium for a special film screening featuring short videos from nonprofit organizations across Berkshire County, including Flying Cloud.

After the screening, stick around for a lively, brief panel with nonprofit leaders as they share what’s ahead for the sector this year—and how these organizations are making a difference right here at home.

Special Chanukah project with Flying Cloud Institute!

Shakespeare & Company is hosting a Community Day on May 25th all over their campus to promote all sorts of offerings throughout the Berkshires. The day will be family friendly and offer live entertainment, food trucks, and various activities and games from their own company and different nonprofits, including Flying Cloud. Entrance to the Community Day and the activities are entirely free.

FREE! The GiT Hackathon is for high school aged girls who are interested in learning and applying their tech skills to address real-world problems. We will have programming for beginners and more experienced students, talks with tech professionals, and build friendships with other participants that are also interested in tech.

The Hackathon will be on April 12th 2025 from 9 to 4:30 and will be held at the Berkshire Innovation Center.

The GiT Hackathon is organized by Miss Hall's School, Flying Cloud Institute, and Berkshire Innovation Center with support from Lee Bank.

Explore downtown GB in a new way - with art and activities by Flying Cloud youth, alums, teaching artists, and families on Tuesday, August 20th. Free and fun for all ages!

Camp families are welcome to visit April Hill in South Egremont on June 20th, 4:00-7:00 pm for an Open House and Silkscreening experience! More details to come.

We are excited to return to the Morningside Party in the Park on June 5th at Kellogg Park in Pittsfield! This celebration will feature spoken word and live music performed by Morningside Community School students. Free pizza and refreshments.

On Wednesday, March 6th, Kids Club maven Melanie Willins will be joined by the Flying Cloud Institute who will aid in leading STEAM workshops for children.

Parents can drop off their little ones anytime between 3-8pm and enjoy time at the Campfire, sit and get some work done, or take a late afternoon hike to the waterfall, or a have a relaxing dinner. Adults are also welcome to stay and participate in creative projects and hang out with the kids. Kid-friendly food options will be available and The Stagecoach Tavern restaurant is also open for adults to enjoy a quiet dinner nearby. $25 for each child per session or $40 for 2 kids (3+ years old / Good for 3-8pm)

Join Berkshire United Way and Zion Lutheran Church for this FREE family festival, which will include information and resources, and children's activities from Flying Cloud Institute.

Saturday’s Downtown Festive Frolic events will be focused on the kids, and Saturday has been dubbed “Festive Frolic Junior”.

Downtown Pittsfield, Inc. and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church will host a Free Kids’ Paint & Sip on Saturday, December 2, 12 to 3 pm, in the auditorium at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 67 East Street. There will be a bonus painting craft on wooden snowflake ornaments sponsored by St. Stephen’s, and a fun science activity presented by Flying Cloud Institute.

A fun evening of dinner, games and team building for mentors - Location to be determined.
