S•M•Art Educator
Position Type: Part-time, seasonal
Position starts immediately, 10-20 hours/ week • $15-$20.00/ hour based on experience
Position Overview
Flying Cloud Institute (FCI) seeks a dedicated and inspiring educator to deliver science and art programs at our summer programs in community schools during the summer of 2021. FCI is a small, dynamic nonprofit committed to inspiring the natural curiosity of children through real world science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) challenges that inspire creativity.
S•M•Art School Educators will offer workshops that provide engaging activities in the arts, science, and/or engineering to youth ages 5 – 14 while observing Covid-19 protocols.
Duties and Responsibilities
Program delivery
• Help create a safe, nurturing, curious learning environment for youth.
• Develop and deliver engaging activities in science, technology, engineering, and or arts for K-8 students. These activities must be aligned with FCI’s learning philosophy and approach to working with youth.
• Collaborate with other staff to support integrated themes, curricula and projects.
• Serve as a role model to other FCI educators, demonstrating program design and
delivery strategies that exemplify FCI’s learning philosophy.
Required Experience and Qualifications
• Bachelor or Masters degree in the arts, a STEM discipline, or education
• Minimum of two years combined relevant experience
• Demonstrated experience working with children in classroom and/ or out-of-school time
settings
• Passion about K-8 STEAM education
